  • Shenzhen’s Weiling Medical Technology (微灵医疗) closed a new funding round of over RMB 100 million (roughly $14–15 million) on 17 August 2026, led by Junzhong Capital with STAR Market-listed Innotek (688253.SH) as core industrial investor via the Jiaxing Innotek Industrial Fund1.
  • Prior backers Gaorong Capital, Life Park Venture Capital, CDH Investments, and Lihe Sci-Tech had already invested in the company, founded in 201912.
  • Weiling develops a fully implantable, medical-grade brain–computer interface built around a flexible thin-film cortical electrode roughly 10 microns thick that sits on the cortical surface rather than penetrating brain tissue, placing it closer to Precision Neuroscience’s epicortical approach than to intracortical systems from Neuralink, Blackrock, Paradromics, or Synchron1.
  • The system is wirelessly powered and transmits cortical signals to an external controller and neurostimulator, with downstream connection to assistive effectors such as an exoskeleton1.
  • Proceeds will fund clinical validation of the company’s implantable BCI products, accelerate medical-device registration filings with Chinese regulators, expand manufacturing capacity, and broaden clinical applications in neurological-function repair23.
  • The company reported that a first-in-human implant in Guangdong in mid-June 2026 restored forearm and wrist movement in the left upper limb of a patient with locked-in syndrome, and it separately has a diagnostic high-throughput intracranial EEG electrode array in Class III medical-device registration expected to reach marketing approval within one to two years1.
